The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 173 FORSAITH, Thomas Stuart WWII Thomas was born on October 13, 1917 in Maple Creek, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1941 and took officers training at Gordon Head, BC. He went overseas in 1942 and served in Canada, England and Europe until his discharge in October 1945. In March 1947, he received his Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Thomas served his community in many ways before he passed away in 2000. FORSYTH, Leonard WWII Leonard was born in December 1908 in Edmonton, Alberta. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940 and was trained as a Naval Cook. Due to an eye injury from baseball as a child, he was not allowed to bear arms, so he served on several corvettes. While on leave, he met his future wife, Opal Stonehocker and they were married on August 15, 1941. After his discharge in 1945, the young couple settled in Pierceland, Saskatchewan with their two boys. Leonard passed away in 1994. FRANCIS, David WWII David was born in 1921 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the RCHA and served in England, Vietnam and in Canada. He achieved the rank of Colonel and was awarded the Bronze Cross (The Netherlands). He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Kingston, Ontario. David passed away in 1994 in Florida.
