The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 155 DUFOUR, Francis Xavier WWII Francis was born in 1925 in Stenen, SK. He joined the Navy in February 1944 and served in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. He earned the 1939-1945 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Overseas Medal and the Pacific Star Medal. Francis passed away on March 10, 1999. DUNCAN, Charles Alexander “Dunc” WWII Charles was born in Coronach, SK in 1919. He served with the 14th Squadron, RCAF in North Africa, Italy and England during the Second World War. He was involved in an incident while serving as a Second Pilot with Sabe Lantinga as First Pilot. This article was published in the book “Not Your Average Joe” by Linda M. Aiton: “Sabe and Dunc had a very miraculous escape as they pranzed an aircraft “P” while on air test and wrote it off completely. They kept fighting all the way in the air, got back to airdrome, not knowing one wheel was missing, making a beauty of a landing. All six Aircraftmen in the plane walked away uninjured, nothing short of miracle.” Charles was discharged as a Flight Lieutenant and received the following awards: Pilot’s Flying Badge, 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, ML, RCAF Operational Wing, Italy Star, Atlantic Star. Charles was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Coronach Branch 268 from the formation of the Branch until his death in 1988. DUTLI, Carl WWII Carl enlisted with the Vancouver Seaforth Infantry during the Second World War. He served in Canada, England, North Africa and Italy. Carl was killed in action in 1944 in Italy.
