The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 147 DELAGE, Aimee WWII Aimee was born on October 4, 1921 in Arborfield, SK. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on December 1, 1942 and served on the high seas until his discharge on September 27, 1945. Aimee passed away on September 3, 2007. DEVEREUX, Arthur WWI Arthur was born in 1884 in England. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and joined the 229th Battalion on March 29, 1916. This battalion later transferred to the 46th Battalion in Moose Jaw, SK. He served in Canada, England and France where he took part in the battles of Vimy Ridge, Ypres and Passchendaele and was wounded twice. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Richmond British Columbia Branch for twenty-two years. Arthur passed away in 1977. DEWING, Alfred Charles WWII Alfred was born in Kinistino, SK on March 20, 1918, to William and Gertrude Dewing. He was called for service on April 10, 1942 in Regina, SK. As a Private, he took his basic training in Saskatchewan and in November 1942, he married Margaret Josephine Howden of Spalding, SK. In February 1943, he volunteered for active service in Suffield, AB. For most of his training, he was with the 11th Aerodrome Defence Platoon. He transferred to the Midland Regiment in November 1943 and transferred back to British Colombia. He later proceeded overseas with the Midland Regiment serving with the 7th Canadian Infantry Training Regiment in Britain. He was Corporal at the time of his discharge in 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Alfred and Margaret raised a son and a daughter. With assistance from the Veterans’ Land Act, he purchased land and farmed until his passing. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Spalding Branch 348 for twenty-four years. Alfred passed away on April 7, 1970.
