The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 143 DASH, Johnny Michael WWII Johnny was born in 1919 in Vanguard, SK. He enlisted in the Canadian Army Active and served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until he was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Corporal. After the war, he got married and he and his wife raised a family of three sons and a daughter. He farmed for thirty-four years and drove the school bus for thirty years. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Pinto Creek Branch 224 for thirty years. Johnny passed away on February 6, 1988 DASHNEY, Robert Neil WWII Robert was born on April 12, 1911 in Vars, Ontario and moved with his parents to Rosetown, SK in 1918. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in the spring of 1942 and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles and Fort Garry Horse Regiments and was sent overseas. On his birthday in 1943, he was severely wounded in Holland and was discharged. After the war, he farmed in the Newburn District, north of Sheho, SK. Robert passed away on May 31, 1990. DAYTON, Claude Edgar WWII Claude was born on December 25, 1923 in Denzil, SK. He enlisted in the Army in January 1943 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, England, France and Germany. He returned home in 1946 and married Salma Clark. They lived on the family homestead in Beacon Hill and raised two daughters. Claude passed away on January 7, 1953 at Goodsoil Hospital.
