The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 115 BRITTS, Alfred Joseph WWII Alfred was born on November 4, 1915 in Humboldt, SK. He had eight siblings, two of whom also served in the Second World War. He married Burnace Parker of Winnipeg shortly before he was ordered to England. On July 21, 1944, Alfred and six other young men were killed in action over Haarl, near Tubbergen, Overijssel, Holland, when a German fighter aircraft collided with a Lancaster aircraft #PB 174 at 8,000 feet. The information about the #405 City of Vancouver Squadron, Pathfinder Force is recorded in two brief notes included in a memorial book that is on display in the British Columbia Aviation Museum. BROCK, John William Angus WWII John was born on November 17, 1924 in McTaggart, SK. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force with 437 Husky Squadron, 8 Wing/ CFB Trenton, ON. He was in this squadron when it was formed in September 1944 until its disbandment in June 1946. He received the following medals for his service: Bomber Command Commemorative Medal, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Bar and the 1939-1945 War Medal. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch 26 and was an officer. John passed away on April 6, 2002. BROMSTAD, Carleton WWII Carleton, born on April 5, 1916, was one of three children of Peter and Bergit Bromstad who homesteaded eight miles northeast of Midale, SK. He attended Bromstad and Macoun Schools, later going on to Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK, after which he became a teacher. Carleton was called to war service, trained in Canada and was sent overseas. He met and married Pauline Collier from Wales with whom he had two boys. Upon completion of his war service, Carleton and Pauline returned to the farm, moving to Prince Albert, SK in 1947. He worked for the postal service there and retired after thirty-one years. Carlton passed away in 1991.
