The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 91 CLELLAND, T. R. “Bud” WWII Bud was born in 1919 in Calderbank, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse in North West Europe during the Second World War. He was a member of the Glen Kerr Legion Branch 126 for over thirty years. Bud passed away in 2001. CLOSE, Eddie WWII Eddie was born in 1921 in Tisdale, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War on March 1, 1943 and served as a Wireless Mechanic in Canada until his discharge on May 6, 1946. After the war, he married and moved to southern Saskatchewan where he had a welding shop. Eddie passed away in 1964. COLBORN, Kenneth Norman KOREA Kenneth was born to Walter Cameron and Dorothy Colborn on May 15, 1931 in the Pickwell District, SK. His only sibling was his sister Iris. He took his schooling at Pickwell but quit to take over the farm after his father’s untimely death in 1949. In the Fall of 1951, Ken joined the Army with the Royal Canadian Engineers for three years; one year in Korea, one year at Churchill, MB. In November of 1953, he came home to farm until 1987. Ken married Joan Burke in January of 1955 and celebrated sixty years of marriage in January of 2015. They raised five children. He joined the Wawota Legion Branch 113 in 1962 and then became an active member in the 1990’s and became a Life Member in 2006. He was Branch president for two years and worked on the wall of remembrance, as well as the Veteran’s Park in Wawata. He was presented with the 90th Anniversary Medal on November 11, 2015. Ken passed away on December 6, 2015.
