The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 75 BURTON, William Howard WWII William was born on May 18, 1914 in Abernethy, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He served with Anti-Aircraft in Canada and England. He was a member of Regina Legion Branch until 1974 when he transferred to the Vancouver Branch. William passed away in 1992. CALLBECK, Arthur WWI & WWII Arthur was born in Stowlea, SK. He served in the First World War where he was wounded. When they picked up the wounded, they thought Arthur was dead so, but on their second trip, they realized that he was still alive so they took him to hospital where he laid flat on his back for a month. He married when he came back to Canada, and he and his wife had ten children. His war wound troubled him throughout the years. In the Second World War, he served as a guard for prisoners in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge, AB. He said that they were a nice bunch of prisoners who wanted to come back to Canada to live. His sons Jim, Elmer and Ronald Callbeck were also in the Armed Forces. CAMERON, Frank Arnold WWII Arnold was born on July 6, 1909 in Dubuc, SK. He enlisted with the Army on December 29, 1941 during the Second World War and was stationed at Camp Borden where he was a staff instructor at the wireless school (Tank Corps). After a lengthy illness, he received a medical discharge in 1944. He was a member of the Campbell River, BC Legion Branch 137. Arnold passed away on March 18, 2004.
