The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 73 BURSETH, Allen K. WWII Allen enlisted in the Canadian Army in November of 1942 during the Second World War with the Motorized Infantry. While in action he was hit through the neck by a sniper at Teapold Canal. He served in England, France, Holland and Belgium until his discharge in February of 1945 with the rank of Private. He went home to the Sheho District after the war. Allen passed away on May 31, 1949 due to a hemorrhage caused by damage to his spine and neck. BURTON (ANDREWS), Florence Ruthie WWII Florence was born in 1925 in Forgan, SK. She enlisted with the C.W.A.C. on October 3, 1944 during the Second World War. She served in Canada until her discharge on April 2, 1946. She married George Andrews of Reston, MB. Florence was a loyal member of the Elizabeth Branch, Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Reston, MB. She was also a long time member of the Dinsmore/Wiseton Legion Branch 210 for about twenty-five years. After returning to Wiseton in 1955, she was confined to bed and was in and out of the University Hospital in constant pain. Florence never complained and found solace in her church and God. She passed away in 1976. BURTON, Thomas Allan WWII Thomas was born in 1916 in Abernethy, SK and spent his childhood there. When he left his bush flying job in Prince Albert, he enlisted with the Canadian Infantry Corps and served in Canada during the Second World War. He was a member of the Abernethy Legion Branch 26 for fifty years. Thomas passed away in 1996.
