The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 69 BROWN (THALHEIMER), Frances Joan “Ginger” PEACETIME Ginger (M.Ed, B. Social Work) was born in St Walburg, SK on May 23, 1936. She was the second eldest of sixteen children. Her older sister Eva had died at just three days old. Ginger enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of sixteen and moved to St Jean, QC for training. She married Robert Brown of Nova Scotia in 1956, and they had three children. Bob was also in the Royal Canadian Air Force and worked for Tektronics Canada Ltd. Bob’s work in the R.C.A.F. took them to Greenwood, NS; Sioux Lookout, ON; Moosonee, ON; Saskatoon, SK; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Mississauga, ON; Barrie, ON; some other places and Creston, BC to retire. She passed away on September 1, 1995 and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erikson, BC near Creston. Ginger was not long in the R.C.A.F. due to marriage. BROWN, Thomas WWII Thomas was born on March 6, 1916 in New Liskeard, ON. He joined the 67th LAA Battery, 7th LAA Regiment R.C.A. and served in England, Holland, Belgium and Italy from 1940 until 1945 during the Second World War. Upon his return to civilian life, he farmed for a short time and then joined the C.N. Railroad until his retirement. Thomas was a member of Biggar Legion Branch 138 for fifty-two years before he passed away in 1998. BROWNFIELD, Oscar WWII Oscar was born in Big River, SK in 1912. He served as a Radio Operator with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. Oscar was accidentally killed a couple of days into the war.
