The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 51 BLACK, James WWI James was born in 1873 in Forester’s Falls, ON and moved to Alberta in 1902. He enlisted with the 51st Battalion of the Canadian Army in 1915 during the First World War. He was transferred to the 1st Canadian Contingent and served overseas. He was wounded in France and spent two years in hospitals in England. He arrived home the day that the Armistice was signed. He was a member of the British Empire Service League 203 in Arborfield. James passed away in 1958. BLACKBURN, Andrew WWI Andrew was born in 1887 in Pilot Mound, MB. He moved to the Jordan River District in 1912 with his brother to file for homesteads. He enlisted with the Army during the First World War in December of 1916 and served overseas until his discharge in 1919. He returned to Jordan River after the war, where he farmed and did construction work. Andrew passed away in 1952. BLACKBURN, James “Jim” WWI Jim was born in 1891 in Pilot Mound, MB. He moved to the Jordan River District in 1912 with his brother to file for homesteads. He enlisted with the R.C.E. during the First World War in December of 1916 and served overseas until his discharge in 1919. He was decorated with a medal for bravery. He married in 1935 and moved to the Arborfield area. He was an active member of the Arborfield Legion Branch 203. Jim passed away in 1979.
