The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 45 BERNESKY, Harold WWII Harold was born on August 5, 1924. He enlisted during the Second World War with the Army Lake Superior Regiment, Highland, Light Infantry, 3rd Battalion on November 26, 1943. He served in Canada, England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany until his discharge in 1946. He helped his father farm, worked for other farmers, worked in the mills and in the bush. Harold passed away in 1985. BERNESKY, Jack WWI Jack was born on June 15, 1899 in Romania. He moved to Winnipeg originally and later to Swift Current. He enlisted with the Army at the start of the First World War and served overseas. After his discharge, he returned to Gurnsey and was married. They moved to the Connell Creek area in 1921 and raised a family of fifteen children. Jack passed away in November of 1954. BINGHAM, James Milton WWII James was born on October 3, 1919 south of Wideview, SK. He enlisted with the Army in 1941 during the Second World War and joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry. He did not pass his medical to go overseas and was sent to the coal mines in Bienfait, SK. Jim paid the ultimate sacrifice in a coal mine accident on December 31, 1943.
