The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 451 WOOD, William John BOER WAR William was born in 1879. He served as a Private with the Canadian Contingent during the Boer War. He passed away in 1966. WRIGHT, James Cecil WWI James was born on December 25, 1896. He enlisted in the First World War at Tisdale, SK on July 26, 1916 and after transferring from the 183rd to the 44th Battalion on December 14, 1916, he served with them as Corporal until being seriously wounded at Arras on September 2, 1918. From that time until his discharge on September 5, 1919, he was hospitalized in France, England and Toronto. After the war, he homesteaded near Nipawin with his wife and their two children. He was a member of The Legion in Nipawin. He received the War Service Badge Class A. James passed away on October 4, 1966. WRIGHT, James Sherwood WWII James was born in Nipawin on November 18, 1924 and attended Elkdale School. In 1942, he and his family moved to Ontario and he then enlisted in Toronto and completed his aircrew training in Edmonton, Brandon, Dauphin, Calgary, Mount View, Mount Hope, Lachine and Moncton. From there, he was sent overseas to England where he served with the R.C.A.F. as a Pilot Officer, Wireless Air Gunner during the Second World War from 1943 to 1945 until being discharged. In 1952, he moved to Stayner, ON where he became a member of Stayner Legion Branch 457. He passed away on July 24, 2002.
