The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 421 WALL, Stanley WWII Stanley was born on July 7, 1923. He served with the R.C.N.V.R. during the Second World War. WALLIN (NIXON), Mary Audrey “Molly” WWII Molly was born in 1919 in Canora, SK. She joined the R.W.A.F. in 1942 serving as a Meteorologist and in the Postal Corp in Moncton, NB; Weyburn, SK and Winnipeg, MB before returning to civilian life in 1945. Molly served on the Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary in Lintlaw, SK; Minitonas, MB; Melville, SK and Fort Qu’Appelle, SK for fortyfive years. Molly married Robert Ernest Wallin and they had four children. She passed away in Regina, SK at Wascana Center on September 1, 2012. WALLIN, Robert Ernest WWII Robert was born in Peebic Hill, SK in 1922. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Regina, SK. He completed basic training in Regina and advanced training at Curry Barracks in Calgary, AB. He was sent overseas to England for further training as a Bren Gunner. As part of the 2nd English Division, 3rd Canadian Division Invasion Force he entered France during the D-Day invasion. Shortly after, he was wounded by shrapnel. Upon returning to the front, he was engaged in fighting through France, Belgium and into Holland where he was captured. He was placed in POW camp Zagreb Stalag 8C until his liberation by Russian forces in 1945. Robert received the Canadian Volunteer Medal with active service bar, France and Germany Service Star, 1939-45 Service Star, the King George 1939-45 Medal and the 1939-45 Defence Medal. Robert also received the 1945 Holland Thank You Medal and Lieutenant Governor Service Medal. He is a Life Member of the Fort Qu’Appelle Legion Branch 23 and served as Zone Commander while living in Melville, SK. Robert married Molly Nixon and they had four children. Robert is retired and still living in Regina.
