The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 395 THOMSON, Douglas Spencer WWI & WWII Douglas was born on March 22, 1894. He served with the C.E.F. during the First World War from 1914 to 1918, and with the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War from 1940 to 1944. He flew with Canadian flying ace Buzz Berling during the Second World War. Douglas passed away on January 16, 1977 and is interred in Vancouver, BC. THOMSON, Ernest Thomas WWI Ernest was born on August 26, 1887. He served during the First World War as a Private with the 42nd Highlanders, 53rd Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry from 1914 to 1918. Ernest passed away on February 14, 1973. THOMSON, Joseph Bertram WWI Joseph was born in 1884 in Whitby, ON. In 1906, Joe married Minnie Simpson and homesteaded in North Battleford. They had two children, Jim and Ida. He enlisted in 1914 and served in England, France and Belgium with the 9th Canadian Mounted Rifles during the First World War. He was wounded twice and discharged from the Army in 1919. After the war, Joe became Foreman of the Forestry Farm in Indian Head until 1949. He was on the committee to raise funds to erect a Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion in Indian Head. The Indian Head Legion Branch 114 was completed in 1954 and Joseph he was a Life Member. He passed away in February of 1976 in Indian Head. He received the Victory Medal and War Medal.
