He served during the Second World War as a Private with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps from 1943 to 1946. He passed away in 1998. SWEET, Clarence John “Jack” WWII Jack served during the Second World War with the Canadian Army 1st Special Service Force as a Private in Italy from 1941 to 1945. He also served with the Devil’s Brigade, a branch of the United States Army, which in July 2013 was authorized by President Obama to receive the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award that can be bestowed by the U.S. Congress.
