He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. SEWELL, Donald Joseph WWII Donald was born on June 4, 1920. He was a Rifleman with the Winnipeg Rifles and he served in the United Kingdom and in Europe from June 16, 1943 to March 9, 1946 during the Second World War. He received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Donald passed away on September 15, 1986. SHANNON, Walter Edward WWII Walter was born in 1920 in Bienfait, SK. He enlisted in the Army during the Second World War and served as a Sergeant with the South Saskatchewan Infantry Regiment Second Division. He served from 1940 to 1945 in Canada, British Isles and Northern Europe with the Signal Division. He was mentioned in dispatches by King George VI. He currently resides in Purcell Wing, Swan Valley Lodge, Creston, BC.
