The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 339 SCHIKOWSKI, Peter Paul WWII Peter was born in Claybank, SK on September 4, 1918. He served during the Second World War with the Canadian Army Ordinance Corp overseas during the Second World War. He was discharged from Depot in Regina. He lived in Moose Jaw, SK and worked for Palm Dairies before farming in Vantage, SK. He was married with three sons and two daughters. He was a member of the Assiniboia Legion Branch 17 for many years before he passed away in 2003. SCHILL, Wilfred J. WWII Wilfred was a LAC Wireless Mechanic with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served during the Second World War from August 17, 1942 to September 10, 1945. Wilfred resides in Nipawin and is retired from his electrical contracting business, ABC Electric and Furniture. SCHMIDT, Howard WWII Howard was born on February 11, 1923. He joined the Canadian Army on June 21, 1943 and served during the Second World War with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in the United Kingdom, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Normandy. He was wounded on July 20, 1944 and returned to service in France a few months later. He was wounded a second time on December 16, 1944 on the Holland border and returned back to the regiment in March of 1945 until the war ended. He returned to Halifax on the Queen Elizabeth Ship with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in November of 1945 and from there, boarded the train to Weyburn, SK where they disbanded. He was discharged on January 5, 1946. For his service, Howard was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the George VI Medal, the Normandy Campaign Medal, Thank You Canada Medal from Holland, Normandy Chest Badge 2004, and WWII 75th Tribute Pin 1939-2014. He was an active member in the Weyburn Legion Branch 47 for fifty-two years.
