He served during the Second World War as a Private in the Canadian Army South Saskatchewan Regiment. He was killed in action at Dieppe on August 18, 1942 and is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial near London, England. His family moved from England to the Pontrilas in 1916. RUSHMER, Matthew WWII Matthew was born in 1917. He served during the Second World War as a Lance Sergeant with the Saskatoon Light Infantry of the Canadian Army. He was killed in action near Rimini, Italy on September 15, 1944 and is buried at Coriano Ridge War Cemetery in Riccione, Italy. His parents homesteaded near Pontrilas in 1916. He is the brother of John Spencer Rushmer who was also killed during the war. RUSK, Elwin WWII Elwin enlisted during the Second World War on September 10, 1942 with the Governor General’s Footguards.
