The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 323 ROCKWELL, Charles Kelvin “Pete” WWII Pete served during the Second World War in Canada, United Kingdom, Continental Europe and in the Mediterranean area as a Gunner with the R.C. Artillery from September of 1942 to November of 1945. He was picked as Honour Guard at Buckingham Palace. He was wounded in the head in Italy and was hospitalized with amnesia. He recovered and returned to duty with 6th Platoon of the 1st Company. ROGAL, Albert Francis WWII Born in Borki Wielki, Poland on September 20, 1905, Albert came to Canada as a boy at about the age of six. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps as a very young man in 1923 for about two years until he was honourably discharged upon being called home due to the death of his father. He married Marja “Maria” Ziola (also from Poland) in 1928 in Handel, SK. They settled down to farming and raising a family near Meadow Lake. They had nine surviving children. Albert enlisted as a volunteer with the Army in 1943 and served in Europe during the Second World War. His medals include the France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-45 with bar. He was a member of the Meadow Lake Legion Branch 76 for thirty-one years before he passed away in 1976. ROGERS, Earl Wyman WWII Earl was born on August 6, 1921. He served during the Second World War with the 8th R.E.C.C.E. Tank Corps of the Canadian Army from 1940 to 1946. He passed away in 1997.
