The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 289 NYGAARD, Harold WWII Harold was born on January 3, 1922. He took his basic training in Prince Albert and advanced training in Shilo, MB and then was sent to Worthington, England. From there, Harold was with the allied forces in Normandy where he was wounded in the left hip. He served from 1942 to 1945 as an Infantryman with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He passed away on April 11, 2007. OFFET, Everette Allen WWII Everette was born in 1924 in Overland, SK. He served his country during the Second World War. He is a member of the Dr. Harold Anderson Memorial Branch. OGLE, William Hall WWI & WWII William was born on December 19, 1870. He arrived at Wood Mountain, SK via Cannington Manor in 1888. On January 1, 1915, he went into officers Training Corps and got a commission in the Horse Transport R.A.S.C. He served in France and Flanders. He returned to Wood Mountain after the First World War ended. He re-enlisted in the Second World War when it began. William was in charge of night patrols on Key Points surrounding the countryside in England, being on duty from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. watching for German paratroopers which lasted for two years. Paratroopers never did appear, guards were done away with, so ended his war career. After leaving Wood Mountain for the last time, he passed away in England on February 26, 1953.
