The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 285 NEUFELD, Johann “John” John was born on August 22, 1928. He served as a Private with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (NATO) from 1955 to 1958. He was awarded the NATO Decorations. NEUFELD, Len WWII Len joined the 2nd Division 10th Field Ambulance and 6th Infantry Brigade and served as a Private from 1941 to 1946 during the Second World War. NEUFELD, Leslie Abram WWII Leslie was born in 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and later transferred to the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. He served as a Private with the Canadian Army. He was amongst the first troops dropped into Normandy on June 5, 1944. Leslie died on June 10, 1944 attempting to take out a German gun near the Chateau of Varaville. He is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial for soldiers involved in the invasion of Normandy who died with no known grave. His father established Neufeld Seeds in Nipawin. Three of his brothers also served during the Second World War.
