The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 275 MORRIS, Peter Frank WWII Peter was born in 1917. He served with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps as a Sergeant from January 1, 1940 to July 30, 1946 during the Second World War. He passed away in 2002. MORRIS, William Frank WWII William was born in 1921. He served in Canada, England, France and Germany as a Trooper with the Canadian Hussars 14th Reconnaissance Regiment. He served from March 3, 1941 to January 9, 1946. For his service during the Second World War, William was awarded the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Star. He passed away on November 15, 1985. MORRISON, Laverne H. “Vern” “Mo” WWII Vern was born in the Big Muddy area of Saskatchewan in 1922. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force with the #429 Squadron, Bomber Command as a Pilot and then Squadron Leader from 1942, flying both the Halifax and the Lancaster. He served flying troops and prisoners of war from Italy back to England in 1946. On his return to Canada, he taught school for thirty-three years. Vern was active in the Legion track and field in Saskatchewan for thirty years. He served as Branch president, zone commander, and president of the Saskatchewan Command. He continues to reside in Melfort at Legion Place with his wife Ruth Mitke. They raised seven children.
