The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 261 MIAZGA, Diane Lynne PEACETIME Diane was born on October 31, 1958 in Regina, SK and moved with her large family to Lumsden in 1971. She worked for many years in the public sector before joining the Forces in 1983 as a Logistician. She served across Canada: CFB Borden; RMC Kingston; CFSAL Borden; 5 Wing Goose Bay; 2PPCLI, 17 Wing Engineer Flight and 17 Wing Operations, all in Winnipeg; and VCDS at NDHQ Ottawa. She deployed overseas to Golan Heights in 2002-2003. Diane married fellow service person Gerrit “Ed” Holleman in 1995 and they retired in Ottawa with their two children in 2010-2011. Diane’s decorations include the Canadian Decoration and Canadian Decoration I; Canada 125; Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and UN Disengagement Observer Force Medal. MIAZGA, Ignace Aunis WWII Ignace was born to Matthew and Helen (Walcer) Miazga on the family farm near Lenvale, SK on January 30, 1925. In 1944, shortly before his nineteenth birthday, he enlisted in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. After basic training, his orders placed him in the 1st Battalion S, D & G Highlanders. His service in infantry took him to the United Kingdom, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He was discharged in February of 1946 being decorated with the France and Germany Star, the War Medal 1939-45 and Oak Leaf Emblem and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He married Helen Rose Kaminski in 1949 and they were blessed with five children. In 1986, Ignace retired from a successful teaching career. He was a member of the Settler Legion Branch 59. He was laid to rest in Settler, AB in 1993. MIDDLEMISS, Frank WWII Frank served in the Second World War with the Canadian Army.
