The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 259 METKE, Ford Ellis “Cub” WWII Ford was born in Pangman, SK in December of 1923. He served in Canada during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Air Gunner. Cub was a free-spirit and travelled throughout North America over the years. He died in 2011 and is buried in Langley, BC at Murryville Cemetery. METKE, Herman F. WWII Herman was born in Amulet, SK in 1922. Before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he worked on the Alaska Highway. He served in the Second World War in Canada as a flight engineer. He studied in Saskatoon and became a pharmacist working in Saskatchewan and Fort Frances, ON. He married Evelyn Gray and they raised three children. He was a member of the Fort Frances Legion Branch before he passed away in 1995. METKE, Paul J. WWII Paul was born in 1918 in Amulet, SK. He was a pilot stationed in Scotland and was on Coastal Patrol with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. After his discharge, he worked in Saskatchewan in government services as a customs officer and at Manpower in Weyburn and later in Saskatoon, a career lasting over twenty-five years. He married Florence Kessler and together they raised three children. He died in 2002 and is buried in Saskatoon.
