He enlisted in 1942 and served as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Second World War. He passed away in 1959. McKIE (ARMSTRONG), Gertrude Eileen WWII Gertrude was born in 1921 in Rocanville, SK. She enlisted with the C.W.A.C. on April 27, 1942 and served as C.S.M. during the Second World War in Canada until her discharge on February 6, 1946. She passed away in 2002. McKINNON, John Edmund WWII John was born on July 30, 1926 in Lockwood, SK. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Regina on February 29, 1944. He took his training in Saskatoon and Dundurn, SK; Victoria, BC; Simcoe, ON and Aldershot, NS. He served during the Second World War in Canada with the Canadian Technical Training Corps. Upon his discharge, he took an accounting course and held several accounting positions in Regina and also spent over fifteen years with the Regina Police Service. John and his wife Joan moved to Lumsden in September of 1979. John had the privilege of visiting the camp at Aldershot in August of 1993 and seeing his old hut. He was a Life Member of the Lumsden Legion Branch 234. He passed away on December 4, 2006.
