He served with the Royal Canadian Navy aboard HMCS Regina K234 in the Atlantic, English Channel and Irish Sea. He is a survivor of the sinking of HMCS Regina by a German U-boat in the English Channel on August 8, 1944. He was awarded the Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour for the participation of HMCS Regina K234 in liberating France during the invasion of Normandy. Donald has been a member of the Nutana Legion Branch 362 for sixty-seven years. McKIBBIN, Howard William WWII William was born on February 23, 1914. He served as a Private with the South Saskatchewan Regiment during the Second World War. He passed away on June 5, 1994. McKIBBIN, Lawrence Julius WWII Lawrence was born on January 6, 1912. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and served during the Second World War. He passed away on May 24, 1974.
