The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 249 McDOWELL, Allan Albert WWII Allan was born on August 18, 1924 in Loon Lake, SK. He enlisted in the Army with the Regina Rifle Regiment on October 1, 1943 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during the Second World War until he was discharged on June 4, 1946. He received the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He passed away on September 25, 2014. McDOWELL, Clifford Allen WWI Clifford was born in Pembroke, ON on May 23, 1897. He enlisted in the Navy on February 28, 1916 with the 128th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in France until he was discharged on April 27, 1919. He was hit with shrapnel in 1917 and spent several months in hospital in England. He returned to service and served at Vimy Ridge. After the war, he returned to Saskatchewan where he farmed and did carpentry. He and his wife Evelyn (Molly) raised five children. Their son Allan served in the Second World War. Clifford passed away on December 7, 1978. McGIRR, Wilburn Harvey “Red” WWII Wilburn was born on December 5, 1914. He served as L/Cpl in the European theatre of operations during the Second World War with the 1st Armoured Car Regiment with the Royal Canadian Dragoons from February 8, 1941 to January 25, 1945. He passed away on May 26, 2006.
