The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 171 JOHNSON, Alfred WWII Alfred served as a Private with the Canadian Army from 1943 to 1946 during the Second World War. JOHNSON, Edwin WWII Edwin served as stretcher bearer with the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946 during the Second World War. JOHNSON, Gordon Carl WWII Gordon was born on April 2, 1921 in Congress, SK. He signed up with the Regina Rifles in November of 1942 where he did his basic training. He was sent to Dartmouth, NS on the train to take heavy artillery training. On completion, he was sent by train to the west coast, serving with the 27th Regiment in Victoria and Digby Island, Prince Rupert where he remained for the rest of the Second World War. He was discharged in March of 1946 and returned to the family farm where he farmed until his retirement in 1998. In 1993, he married his wife Adriane and they were happily married for twenty-one years. Gordon passed away in December of 2014 and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Assiniboia, SK.
