The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 131 HAMERSTON, Lloyd E. WWII Lloyd was born on July 25, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and served from 1941 to 1946 as a Gunner during the Second World War. Lloyd passed away on April 23, 2002. HAMILTON, Richard C. “Dick” WWII Dick was born on September 17, 1922 in Semans, SK. He enlisted in the Army in September of 1941 and served in the South Saskatchewan Regiment, R.C.A.S.C. during the Second World War. After training in Dundurn, SK and Camp Borden, ON, he served in the United Kingdom, France, Holland and Germany and was discharged in February of 1946. Following his discharge, Dick bought a farm under Veterans’ Land Act and took an active part in the community, notably the Semans Legion Branch 108 in which he served as an officer for a number of years. Dick died in an accident on December 24, 1976. HAMILTON, Robert “Bert” WWII Bert was born on April 30, 1921 in Semans, SK. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian air Force in February of 1942 and after training in Regina, SK; Toronto, ON and St Thomas, ON, was stationed at MacDonald, MB; Yorkton, SK and Calgary, AB. After his discharge in October of 1945, Bert bought a farm in 1948 under the Veterans’ Land Act and was a very successful grain and livestock farmer. He was also a highly respected member and leader of many of Semans’ community organisations. Bert passed away on December 10, 2001.
