The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 109 CURRIE, Neil R. PEACETIME Neil was born in Ottawa, ON in 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1959, serving in Canada on HMCS Lahulloise and Shearwater before leaving in 1962. He was a member of R.C.E. 6th Field Squadron from 1958 to 1959 and 1962 to 1963. Neil has been a member of the Meadow Lake Legion Branch 76 for eleven years. DAWE, Lawrence Milton WWII Lawrence was born on December 5, 1915 in Outlook, SK. He trained in Infantry as a Rifleman and spent nineteen months in the field in an Infantry unit on general duties. He served a total of thirtyone months, nineteen months in the United Kingdom and in Northwestern Europe. He served as a Private with the Regina Rifles during the Liberation of Holland. He was injured and had a piece of shrapnel in his head. He spent two months in England and had his spleen removed. He was eventually discharged and he returned to Canada after the Second World War. Lawrence received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, the Canadian Service Volunteer Medal with Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. He passed away on August 11, 1976. DICK, Leroy Philip PEACETIME Leroy was born in Woodrow, SK on October 7, 1942. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces on September 14, 1961. He was a Trooper with the Fort Garry Horse Armour Corp and stationed at Hemer, West Germany. He returned to Canada in September of 1965 and was discharged. He lived in Assiniboia, North Battleford and Riverhurst. Then he returned to Assiniboia, SK in 1999. He is married with two sons. He has been a member of the Assiniboia Legion Branch 17 for forty-seven years. He now resides in West Kelowna, BC.
