The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 101 CRAGG, William “Bill” WWI Bill was born in 1895 in Windsor, ON. He later moved to Pollockville, AB and took up a homestead. He enlisted with the Army in 1914, and served overseas with the 2nd Battalion for four years during the First World War until his discharge. After the war he went to the Arborfield area in 1921 and married in 1927. He was a member of the Arborfield Legion Branch 203 of the British Empire Service League. Bill passed away in May of 1981. CRAIG, Alvin James WWII Alvin was born in Calderbank, SK on May 23, 1923. He was a DDay Veteran and served in the Second World War from 1940 until 1945 with the Fort Garry Horse in Northwestern Europe. He joined the Army with the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse in August of 1940 at Dundurn. He then went to Weyburn, Vancouver, Nanaimo (VC1), Camp Borden, ON and Debert, NS. He went to England early in 1943 where he trained until June of 1944 before going to France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. When he was in England, the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse was disbanded and 2 were sent to Fort Garry Horse (TANKS) where they stayed until the end of the war. He returned to Canada in December of 1945. Alvin was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion before he passed away on November 27, 2011. CRAMER, Lawrence “Larry” WWII Larry was born in 1920 in Tisdale, SK and his family later moved to the Addington area. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 7, 1941 and served as an Air Gunner in Canada and Europe during the Second World War until his discharge on June 9, 1945 with 38 ops to his credit. He received the D.F.C. as a capable and alert gunner displaying coolness and devotion to duty of a high order. He married an English war bride and later moved to British Columbia. Larry passed away on October 27, 1988.
