The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 97 DOWNING, Percy WWI Percy was born in London, England in 1892. He joined the British Army and served in England, France and Belgium during World War I. He came to Canada in 1921, was married and had two children. Percy was a farmer. He died in 1992 and is buried in the Quill Lake Cemetery. DUFOUR, Francis Xavier “Frank” WWII Frank was born on July 29, 1925 in Stenen, Saskatchewan. He joined the Navy in Regina, trained at the Canadian Gunnery School in Cornwallis, then transferred to HMCS Givenchy and Victoria. He was posted on Wascana Park with a crew of 8 – Navy Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship. Frank served in the Pacific and the Atlantic, Cape Horn, in the Atlantic to Cape Town, Durbin, Africa, Cape of Good Hope, and the Panama Canal. He was a salesman for Dufour Wilson Motors and was employed by the Province of Saskatchewan. On June 11, 1949, Frank married Patricia Shevon and they had three children. In 1952, they moved to Weyburn where he operated a Texaco Bulk Station for 30 years and then owned and operated Four Corner Tire Service. Very active on boards and in clubs in the community, he was also president of The Royal Canadian Legion until 1979, secretary manager of Weyburn Branch 47 for five years, and Zone Commander for six years. He died on March 10, 1999 and is interred in Hillcrest Cemetery in Weyburn. DUGUID, David J. WWII David was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Army and served with the 3rd Canadian Armoured Tank Corps from 1943-45 in Canada, England and France where he was wounded. David married and had three children. He was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for thirty-five years before he passed away in 1991. He is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
