The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 91 DENNEY, Russel WWII & KOREA Russel was born in 1923 in Boissevain, Manitoba. He joined the Navy in Winnipeg in July 1940 and served on HMCS Chippawa and HMCS Cedarwood. He served from 1941-46 on convoy duty in the North Atlantic, at Murmansk, Russia, as well as in the English Channel during the D-Day Invasion. Russel was discharged in 1946 but he rejoined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1948 and served until 1955. His service included a tour of duty on HMCS Athabaskan in Korea. Russel was a member of Flaxcombe Legion Branch 98 for fifty years before he passed away in 2003. DICKSON, Ronald J. WWII Ronald was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan around 1926. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada from July to November 1944. He also served in the Army from December 1944 to April 1946. Ronald never married and is now retired. DINGWALL, Fred WWII Fred was born in Asquith, Saskatchewan around 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and became a pilot during WWII. Fred got married in England but was killed in action three weeks later in May 1943. He was buried in Ripon, England.
