The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 89 DAVIES, Evan Thomas WWI Evan was born in South Wales on January 4, 1894 and moved to the Kings Court District, north of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1908. He married Frances Vandora and they had 12 children. He joined the Army and served as a Private with the 9th Platoon, 214th Battalion in Canada and in Western Europe for 5 years during World War I. Evan died on March 13, 1980 and is buried in the Legion Cemetery in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. DAVIS, Ramond Andrew WWII Ramond was born in 1923 in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the Regina Rifles in England, France, Germany and Holland. Ramond was awarded the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the George VI Medal, the France and Germany Star, and the 1939-45 Star. He was a member of Paddockwood Legion Branch 31 before he passed away in 2010. DAY, James Allan SPECIAL DUTY AREA Allan was born on July 15, 1934 in Deloraine, Manitoba. On February 2, 1953, he joined the Navy at HMCS Chippawa in Winnipeg then served at HMCS Cornwallis and Shearwater as an Aero engine mechanic. After Observers mate training, he received his Wings on July 8, 1955 and flew with VS 881 Squadron at HMCS Shearwater and HMCS Magnificent. He was promoted to P2OM2 on November 2, 1957 and discharged on February 1, 1958. Allan worked on oil field drilling rigs then worked for Halliburton in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He married Nancy Griffin in 1961 and they had two children. From Estevan, he transferred to Iran, left Halliburton then worked for Dowell Schlumberger in Dubai and Venezuela. He returned to Canada and worked in Estevan and Leduc until he retired in Weyburn in 1989. Allan transferred to Legion 47 and was awarded a Life Membership, the Meritorious Service Medal and Palm Leaf and a Certificate of Appreciation. He transferred to Tecumseh 133 in Stoughton in 2010. Allan has been a Legion member for fifty-four years.
