The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 81 CRAIG, Lyle Lewis WWII Lyle was born in 1924 in Calderbank, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in October 1943 and served in Canada, England and Europe where he was killed in action on April 19, 1945 in Belgium. Lyle is buried in the Holton Cemetery in Holland. CRIPPS, Delaine Ruth SPECIAL DUTY AREA Delaine was born in 1951 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a medical nurse on HMCS Protecteur in the Gulf War and Bosnia. CUDMORE, Fred Richard WWII Fred was born to William and Elizabeth Cudmore in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan in 1923. He enlisted in the Army in November 1942 and served in the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. He married Doreen Nesbitt of Dummer, Saskatchewan in 1944 while on embarkation leave and was shipped overseas ten days after the wedding. Fred, a tail gunner on a tank and part of the liberation of the Netherlands, was wounded and returned home in August 1945. Fred and Doreen farmed in the Dummer area before moving to Regina where he worked at various jobs, retiring from the Plains Hospital. They raised four children. Fred was a member of Regina Legion Branch 1 before he died on August 20, 2008.
