The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 77 CONDIE, J. WWI J. Condie served as a Private with the 5th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). He was killed in action on Sunday, May 5, 1918. He is buried in the Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension in Pas de Calais, France. His grave marker is as 111.A.41. COUTTS, Eric Russell WWII Eric was born in Alsask, Saskatchewan in 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and transferred to the Army one year later. He was discharged in Regina on April 8, 1946 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. Eric was a dedicated Lifetime Member of Flaxcombe Legion Branch 98 for sixty-six years. He was also branch president from 1952-54, secretary/treasurer from 19592003, and Zone Commander in 1972, 1976 and 1986. Eric was presented with a Life Membership in 2003 and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1991. He passed away on May 18, 2010. COWLEY, William WWI William was born in London, England in 1898 then settled near the Twin Creek area of Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces and served as a Private in Canada, England and France. Wounded in action, William lost his arm and died of influenza shortly after his discharge from the Army.
