The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 71 CODE, John “Tex” WWII Tex, the fourth son of Malcolm and Grace Code, was born in 1920 in Eston, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in 1942, took his training at various locations, and served only in Canada. Tex was a member of Eston Legion Branch 155 before he died in 1989. CODE, Lawrence WWII Lawrence was born in 1921 in Eston, Saskatchewan and was the fifth of seven brothers to join the Army. From 1943, he trained at Camp Borden, Ontario and he served only in Canada. His brother Walter was also in training at Camp Borden at the same time as Lawrence. His children and grandchildren reside near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. Lawrence died in 2010. CODE, Shanley WWII Shanley was born in 1923 in Eston, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in 1943 and arrived in England in June 1944. Shanley was stationed in France, Holland and Belgium and was a stretcherbearer near the front lines under fire. He was hospitalized for shell shock in September 1944 then was relieved of his duties and sent back to England to rest. The war was over shortly after that and he was sent home to Canada. Shanley died in 1979.
