The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 65 CHILDS, Donald WWII, SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Donald was born in Clair, Saskatchewan. During his time with the Canadian Forces, he served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and in the United States. From 1943-45, he was with the Royal Canadian Air Force then he re-enlisted and served from 1948-1979. Donald was a jet fighter pilot, a Squadron Leader at Defence HDQ in Ottawa, as well as with NATO in Seattle, USA. He was also Commanding Officer at a radar station on Vancouver Island, NORAD Regional Commander in New Brunswick and Director of Planning at National Defence HDQ in Ottawa. Donald retired as a Colonel in 1979 and he passed away in 2001. He is buried in British Columbia. CHILDS, Trayton WWI Trayton was born in England and moved to Canada where he married Nancy and they had one son. He joined the Army and served as a Private with the 1st Canadian Mounted Army Rifles in Canada and overseas where he was wounded at Ypres in 1916 and taken prisoner of war. Trayton died in 1971 and is buried in the Military Cemetery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. CHORNEY, Tony WWII Tony was born in Bobalice, Poland in 1920 and came to Clair, Saskatchewan in 1930. He joined the Army and served four years with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in Canada, England, Italy and Holland. Tony married and had six children. He died in 1993 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
