The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 51 BLANC, Lawrence W. WWII Lawrence was born in 1907 in the United States. He came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan where he married and had four children. He then returned to the US and joined the United States Navy, serving with the Merchant Marines as a Captain on the S.S. Cape Archway in the US and in the Pacific. His was the first ship to enter Nagasaki Harbour after the Atomic Bomb was dropped in 1945. He was exposed to radiation and suffered from skin cancer until his death in 1987. Lawrence is buried in Guadalajara, Mexico. BOOTH, Ivan WWII Ivan was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan around 1919. He joined the Army and served with the Saskatoon Light Infantry and the Calgary Highlanders in Canada, England and France, where he was wounded. Ivan married and had four children. He died in 1998 and is buried in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. BOOTH, Lawrence Richard WWII Lawrence was born on October 13, 1919 in Creelman, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on January 8, 1942 in Saskatoon and served in Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, France and Belgium during WWII. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. After his discharge on February 14, 1946, he went into farming, got married and had ten children. Lawrence was a Legion member in Leoville then Sylvan Lake until his death in January 2009.
