The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 445 WOOD, Wayne S. PEACETIME Wayne was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on June 12, 1958. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 26, 1976 and served until August 5, 1982. He has since been a firefighter with National Defence. Wayne married and has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. WOODWARD, Frederick “Fred” WWI Fred was born in June 1883 in Southampton, England and immigrated to Canada in 1906. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served as a baker during WWI after which he returned to Kamsack. One of the first charter members of Kamsack Legion Branch 24, Fred was also a Life Member for twenty-seven years before he died in August 1954. WOODWARD, Robert Alfred WWII Robert was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan in October 1926. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served as a cook on HMCS Burlington in the North Atlantic during WWII. He was the last member of the family to see his brother Sydney alive as they parted ways in Winnipeg. Robert was a Life Member of Kamsack Legion Branch 24 for sixty-one years, holding many different Legion offices. Robert passed away in 2006.
