The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 441 WIRSCHE, Arthur O. “Art” WWII Art was born on the family farm near Kelstern, Saskatchewan in April 1921. He enlisted on November 4, 1942 in Regina and trained in basic and advanced infantry and as a fireman for five months. He served with the 1st Battalion Midland Regiment and #12 District Depot in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe in general Infantry duties. Art received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the 1st Good Conduct Badge, the France and Germany Star and the War Medal 1939-45. He was honourably discharged on March 27, 1946. Art married June Myles in 1948 and they had four children. Together, they farmed in the Hodgeville district until retiring to Swift Current in 1997. He was a member of Hodgeville Legion Branch 327 for over fifty-seven years before he passed away on November 8, 2007. WISMINITY, Paul Joseph WWII Paul was born on April 28, 1926 in Donwell, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Army on September 22, 1941 and served during WWII. He was discharged in Regina on January 31, 1946. Paul was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was also honoured by the Town of Groningen in Holland and in November 2012, by the Dutch Consulate in Saskatoon. Paul was a member of Saskatoon Legion Branch 63 for forty years before he died on December 26, 2012. WOOD, Edward Melfort WWII Edward was born in Cadillac, Saskatchewan in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served in Canada and England during WWII. He passed away in 1996.
