The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 437 WILSON, Charlie WWI Charlie was born in England in 1894 and came to Canada in 1914. He joined the Canadian Army and served with the 214th Battalion and, later in England, with the 28th Battalion as well as the 2nd Division in 1916. He also fought in France and Belgium. Charlie, who was a farmer, married and had 2 children. He moved to British Columbia in 1943 and was buried in Burnaby after his death. WILSON, Gordon Allan WWII Gordon was born on December 5, 1917 in Limerick, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in Regina on December 17, 1940 and trained as a pilot. He was posted to the Royal Air Force and served in North Africa for most of his active service before leaving the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina on August 16, 1945 as Flight Lieutenant. Gordon took the Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan and had a number of professional and business careers: in the farm machinery industry as salesman, dealer and agency owner, as executive director Western Development Museum (1964-1977); and real estate salesman and broker (1977-1989). He was also involved extensively with: the UIC, the town of Indian Head as councilor and director of Saskatoon Housing Authority. He has volunteered with veterans associations, professional groups, the Anglican Church, the Salvation Army and the University of Saskatchewan alumni and was active in Kiwanis, the Travel Industry of Saskatchewan and the Antique Car Association. Gordon married and had a son and two daughters. WILSON, Lorne WWII Lorne was born in Guernsey, Saskatchewan on August 28, 1914. He enlisted in Ottawa in October 1940 and served in the 8th Brigade Workshop, Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as radio technician in the 3rd Division in Northwest Europe. He left the service in Regina in September 1945 as Craftsman. Lorne had taught in a rural school before the war and afterwards, he went to the University of Saskatchewan for degrees in science and education, also taking one year of graduate studies at the University of London, England. He taught in high schools in Saskatoon (Bedford Road, Bowman and Nutana) and as a teacher, was active in the Saskatchewan Teachers Association. From 19451950, he also served in the reserve air force in Saskatoon. Lorne married and had a daughter.
