The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 417 WATSON, Wilfred WWII Wilfred was born in Carman, Manitoba in 1914. He joined the Army in Regina in March 1943 and served in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps, mainly in Borden, Ontario where he was in charge of tracking vehicles and their parts. He left the service in Regina on March 5, 1946 as Staff Sergeant. After the war, Wilfred joined McLeod’s Hardware in Saskatoon the, went to Lloydminster where he was branch manager from 1948-1972. He returned to Saskatoon and was there until he retired in 1976 and started working part-time in the gardening department at Sears. Wilfred joined the Lloydminster Legion Branch and took over preparing the lunches served after each branch meeting. He is also active in the Diabetic Association. Wilfred married and had a son and two daughters. WEBB, John Hooker WWII John was born in Winnipeg in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg in 1940 and trained as a wireless air gunner. He served in the United Kingdom as radar and aircrew (WAG) and left the service in Regina on May 15, 1945 as Pilot Officer. After the war, he became a licensed land surveyor for Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan and Canada Land Surveyor (CLS). Before he retired, one of his sons joined his private survey practice in Saskatoon which he operated from 1949-1989. John, married with two sons and a daughter, has been active in provincial and national professional societies. WEBB, Reginald Garfield “Reg” WWII Reg was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba on April 26, 1927. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on November 15, 1943 and trained as wireless operator ground (WOG), serving at many locations in Canada including AFHQ in Ottawa and No. 2 Air Command Winnipeg. He was a Leading Aircraftsman when he left the service in Winnipeg on January 21, 1947 with a disability pension. He also served in the Reserves. After the war, Reg worked as a salesman from 1947-1960; with Transport Canada from 1961-1971 in Broadview, Saskatchewan, Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Churchill and Lynn Lake, Manitoba; and in Saskatoon from 1971-1990 as provincial manager of air traffic service. Reg was secretary of Whitemouth Legion Branch 199, vice-president and president of Broadview Legion Branch 148 from 1962-63. Reg married and had two sons and a daughter.
