The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 413 WALTON, William WWI William was born in Preston, England in 1885 and came to Canada and Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1906. He joined the Canadian Army and served as a Private with the 5th Battalion Western Cavalry before being medically discharged due to his being wounded in France. He married and had 4 children. William died in 1972 at the age of 87 and his ashes were spread over the Pacific Ocean. WARDLE, John WWI John was born in England in 1893 and came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1922. He joined the British Army and served as a Private with the South Nottinghamshire Hussars in the Balkan States and in North Africa. John married, had one child, and lived in the Gardenia District. He died in 1977 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. WARNER, George Arthur WWII George, the eldest child of David Jean (Graham) Warner, was born in 1915 in Moose Range, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm. When war broke out, he joined the Navy, was posted to the East Coast but contracted tuberculosis and was discharged in 1940. Married while in the Navy, he returned to Prince Albert with his wife and baby and underwent tuberculosis treatment at the Sanitarium. The family moved to Windsor, Ontario where George worked in the automotive industry while also spending time as a Cadet instructor. He lived in Windsor until he died in 2001.
