The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 405 WALBERG, Stanford Stewart “Stan” KOREA Stan was born in Saskatoon on January 26, 1931. He joined the Army in Saskatoon in August 1950 for service in Korea and became a technician in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, working at a base workshop in Montreal and Korea. After the war, he got a teaching certificate at the University of Saskatchewan and worked in radio, five years with CHAB in Moose Jaw and eleven years with CBC in Regina and Watrous. He then spent eight years with Radio Shack in Prince Albert and fifteen years as an instructor at the SIAST campus in Saskatoon. Stan, married with a son and daughter, joined The Royal Canadian Legion at Watrous and then the Korean Veterans Association in Saskatoon. WALKER, Clyde WWII Clyde was born in Quill Lake, SK. He joined the RCAF and served in Canada, England and Germany from 1941-45. He married, had three children, and was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for six years. Clyde died in 1952 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. WALKER, John G. WWII John was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1907. He was in the Army for 5 years, serving with the 14th Calgary Tank Regiment and the 9th Troop Tank in Canada, England and France where he was taken prisoner at Dieppe. John was in prison war camps in Poland (Stalag 8B) and in Prussia at Stargard, Stalag 2D. He never got over his abuse at these camps. John farmed after his discharge and he was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for thirty-two years before he died in 1978. He is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
