The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 391 TONDEVOLD, John WWII John was born in Ogema, Saskatchewan on July 15, 1916. After enlisting in Regina on December 8, 1941 and training as a signaler, he was posted to the 4th Canadian Armoured Division of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and served as a Private in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. He left the service in Regina on October 10, 1945 as Lance Corporal. After the war, he acquired land at Ogema through VLA and farmed until an asthma attack in 1951 forced him to give up farming. John became manager of the Co-op store at Bures near Ogema and in 1954, moved the store into Ogema. In 1959, he moved to manage the Co-op store in Coronach and in 1960, became manager of the Canadian Cooperative Implements Ltd (CCIL) branch at Assiniboia. In 1972, he moved to the CCIL in Saskatoon until he retired in 1982. John joined Ogema Legion Branch 67 and served as secretary and vice-president. He married and had two sons and a daughter. TORGUNRUD, Gerald C. WWII Gerald was born on October 24, 1925 in Bromhead, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served as reinforcement until leaving the service in 1946. Gerald had a son and has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. TRAVAGLINE, Jim PEACETIME Jim was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on August 1, 1941. He enlisted in the Army in Sydney, Nova Scotia and served as a Private in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, operating heavy vehicles in Halifax, Borden, Calgary, Gagetown and Beaverlodge, Alberta. While there, Corporal Travagline left the service in April 1978. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration. Jim then worked as sales representative for Canada Packers from 1978-1981 and as corrections worker for Saskatchewan Justice. Jim is a member of Beaverlodge Legion Branch 121 and has served as sergeant-at-arms. Jim married and had three sons and one daughter.
