The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 37 BARR, Archie WWI Archie was born in Scotland and later lived in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. During World War I, Private Barr served approximately four years with the Royal Canadian Army, 9th Platoon, 214th Battalion in Canada, England, France and Belgium. Archie died from pneumonia in 1918 on the march to Germany. He never married. BARRIE, Jack WWI Jack was born in Bellshill, Scotland in 1900 then came to Canada in 1906 and lived in the Valley Plain District. He joined the Army at age 15 and served as a Private in Canada and England during World War I. He was discharged in 1918 because of his age. Jack married Winnie Sealy and they had two children. He died on December 10, 1987 and is buried in Surrey, BC. BARTOLF, Henry WWII Henry was born in Romania in 1922. He joined the Army on January 8, 1943 and spent three years at Shilo, Manitoba as a driving instructor in the Artillery. He was responsible for pulling the big guns with a Field Artillery Tractor (FAT). Henry was discharged on September 14, 1945 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He has been a member of Oxbow Legion Branch 187 for sixty-five years.
