The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 383 TESSMER, Leland Garth WWII Leland was born on January 28, 1920 in St. Brieux, near Humboldt, Saskatchewan. They then moved to Somme, Saskatchewan where he took his schooling at Southey and later joined the Army, serving in France, Holland and Germany. Leland was awarded the France and Germany Star and the Star from Holland for peacekeeping. He was discharged in May 1946 after which he returned to farm life and got married on May 18, 1948. Leland had a family of seven and he passed away on August 30, 1999. THIBAULT, Fernan A. PEACETIME Fernan was born in Wimmer, Saskatchewan in 1944. He served in Canada for a total of 25 years from 1963-1987, first with the Royal Canadian Air Force then with the Royal Canadian Army. Fernan married and had 3 children. THOM, Archie WWI Archie was born in Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Army and served in Canada, England, and Western Europe during World War I. Private Thom became a POW after the poison gas attack by the Germans in Belgium. Archie married, had one child, and died in 1973.
