The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 373 STRACHAN, J. Ross WWII & PEACETIME Ross was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 13, 1914. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Saskatoon on February 4, 1943 and trained as an airframe mechanic but took ill during his service and was posted to Western Air Command where he served in the security forces at Prince Rupert, at Masset in the Queen Charlotte Islands and Vancouver where he left the service on March 8, 1946 as Corporal. Ross had farmed at Liberty, Saskatchewan before the war so he returned to the farm for 10 years but left “when I got hailed out too many times.” He moved to Saskatoon where he repaired vacuum cleaners, worked as a commissionaire and with security at Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital. He served in the Reserves in 20 Medical Corps of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from January 1, 1962 to June 21, 1965. Ross married and had a son and a daughter. STROME, Frank G. WWII Frank was born in Englefeld, Saskatchewan in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and served as a Gunner with the 1st AntiTank Regiment in Canada, England, and Sicily where he was killed in action in 1943. Frank is buried in Sicily. SUEK, Edward G. WWII Edward was born on August 6, 1919 in Dutton, Montana in the United States. He joined the Army on November 21, 1940 and served as a Private until leaving the service on August 7, 1942. He has a son and has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362.
