The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 363 SMITH, George Herbert WWII George was born in 1921 in Semans, Saskatchewan and he joined the Army and served during WWII. Due to colour blindness, he was unable to go to England so he did his wartime service in Ontario. George died in 1968. SMITH, Leonard “Len” WWII Len was born on the farm in Wynyard, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Army and served with the 3rd Battalion of the Irish Fusiliers and saw action in France, Holland and Germany with the Regina Rifles. He also served with the Corps of Signals before returning home on January 1, 1946. Len was a member of Wynyard Legion Branch 101 before he passed away in 1993. SMITH, Stanley BOER WAR Stanley was born in Canada on April 12, 1880 and came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1903. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served as a Private with the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles in the South African War from April 1900 to August 1902. He married Eva Mitchell and they had 4 children. Stanley died on November 9, 1963 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
